Chipped Tooth Repair
A chipped tooth is repaired according to how deep the break goes. A shallow enamel chip is polished or rebuilt with composite bonding; a break into dentine is sealed; a lost cusp or an exposed nerve needs a crown, and sometimes a root canal first.

Can a chipped tooth wait?
A shallow chip with no pain can usually wait a few days. If the tooth is sharp, sensitive to cold, or shows a pink or red centre, call a dentist the same day.
Will bonding last?
Five to ten years on a front tooth, less if you grind your teeth or bite your nails. It can be polished or replaced when it stains or chips again.
Does insurance cover the repair?
A repair needed because of decay or trauma is usually covered as a filling or crown. Bonding done purely for appearance usually is not.
